“Imagine two dj’s that have the capabilities of creating and producing in extreme outer realms of what most in the industry wouldn’t expect, yet, they fit perfectly within the music industry’s standards”
Darren “DJ QUAD” Brandon, born in Chicago, Joe “MO-JOE” Glover, born in Jamaica, were both raised on the southside, and had a love since childhood for music. “MO-JOE” began dj'ing in high school and enjoyed playing with dj legends such as Kenny Jason, Farley Keith, Ron Hardy and other top dj’s. To create more dj'ing opportunities MO-JOE passed out flyers for Park Avenue Productions, Gucci and Diamond Corp.“ AM 1390 Junior Achievement Radio” became a excellent opportunity for his first mix show, molding MO-JOE into the excellent dj that he is today.
“DJ QUAD” learned to dj through high school friends and later, with the influence and help of Larry Heard of “Fingers Inc”, he decided to learn production instead. In 1989, QUAD met up with Sherman Rogers of the group “North and Clyborn” and they both formed the team of “Black Ice Productions”. He also formed partnership with Nature Love to open and run 3 recording studios to credit with a number of indie releases, a host of remixes, and major label release on the production’s roster.
MO-JOE, and QUAD met up later on in the years, on the whim of MO- JOE wanting to learn how to use music equipment. From that point, they created new projects, working with artists such as David Brown, Ginger Rogers, and Twilite-Tone, to name a few. A test experiment with new recording software, a song by Natalie Cole, and a character named “Alan Smithee” all mixed in to make a record heard and played by many in clubs throughout the world, would form the joint partnership of “IN BLUEBLACKNESS”. This record created such a buzz, that IN BLUEBLACKNESS got a call from “ATLANTIC MUSIC GROUP” to do remixes of the famous artist “Brandy” and “Kanye West” on their song called “Talk About Our Love”.
IN BLUEBLACKNESS productions are one of the most unique cutting edge producer-dj teams with a state of calm and humbleness that makes one wonder; “Do they realize they have become “pioneers” in dance music??” Well, not to worry, IN BLUEBLACKNESS have a few more tricks up their sleeve. As much as other dj’s and fans try to anticipate their next move, MO-JOE and QUAD will no doubt re-invent the dance without warning, which constantly creates the demand for their production work and djing skills.
